“ We use ImmunIGY on every heifer calf born on the farm, we know that if calves receive inadequate immune transfer from the colostrum, we need to support those calf and give them more attention, to prevent them becoming sick or not achieving target growth. The test also confirms that our protocols for colostrum management are working and that all members of staff are adhering to them. This is the future of our herd and if we get it wrong at the beginning the chances of our calves reaching maximum potential are gone. „

“ The ImmunIGY kit has been a great addition to my on-farm service. It has enabled me to highlight the current health status of the calves to clients and quantify any changes to colostrum management that we make. It’s particularly beneficial as it can be used on both maternal and replacer-fed calves, helping to support our use of colostrum supplementation for improved health and performance. „

“ Correct colostrum feeding is paramount to successful calf rearing and producing cattle that will perform well regarding DLWG. This new test could take the guesswork out of the early stages of a calf’s life by accurately identifying calves who have had insufficient or poor quality colostrum. If this was used on the calf’s birth farm or at calf collection centres it would highlight both positive and negative colostrum feeding which would enhance calf welfare and management and in turn lead to better performance and less medication in that animals life. The test is simple to use and the cost could easily be offset by the improvement in DLWG. „

“ The impacts of failure of passive transfer are something we see regularly as vets and can have a detrimental effect on youngstock health through to adulthood. The ImmunIGY test is another tool in our arsenal that we can use to assess the colostrum management on farms in real-time, which unlike other passive transfer tests, can be used reliably up to 42 days of age. I see this being particularly useful in calf rearing units to identify calves with increased risk of disease or slower growth based on their IgG level. I found the test very quick and easy to use with minimal stress to the calf and the fact results can be produced while still on farm within 10 minutes is impressive. I would not hesitate to recommend this test to clients and calf rearers that want more information about the stock they are purchasing. „
